Overview

The Bible teaches us that “the fruit of the Spirit”–the evidence of Christ’s presence in us–is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. These are the markers of true faith in a believer’s life, but many “Christians” today seem to prefer other, worldly signals of belief that bear little resemblance to spiritual fruit. In fact, such “fake fruit” often leads to “acts of the flesh” against which Paul juxtaposes “the fruit of the Spirit” in his letter to the Galatians. If we really want to follow Jesus, we have to get rid of fake fruit and cultivate the real thing, because looking good is not good enough.
