How You Should Pray
August 2025
We’ve turned prayer into a transaction. We ask, receive, and move on. But Jesus didn’t teach his disciples to pray that way. The Lord’s Prayer doesn’t just change our circumstances; it changes us. It reorders our desires, rewrites our identities, and reshapes our loyalties. Every line confronts the cultural currents we swim in—self sufficiency, consumerism, judgment, and control—and calls us into a different way of living. This isn’t a prayer to make us feel spiritual. It’s a dangerous, daily act of surrender. The Lord's Prayer is not just about learning how to pray like Jesus; it’s about becoming like him. Because when we pray this prayer, we’re asking to be formed into whole-life disciples: people who are all new, all in, and all out for the sake of God’s Kingdom.
