Why is the Bible so bloody? It’s not just Jesus’ words that are red in the Bible; there’s a trail of blood from Genesis to Revelation. It’s not that God is a taker of blood, but that God is the giver of life. To fully grasp the power of the Gospel story, we have to wrestle with the Bible’s constant refrain of blood. As the church has proclaimed from its beginnings, there’s power in the blood.
